The Dragon is Back!

Reworked Dragon Logo
for the One Page Dungeon Contest
used in the above design.

I brought the Dragon back to the One Page Dungeon Contest Title. I usually hunt down tutorials to do this sort of thing, but for the new title logos, I just played around in Photoshop and came up with this method.  While likely not the most efficient method, these are the steps I used:

STEP ONE:Pick a font you like (the more edges and nooks the better),
type out your title or phrase, and then rasterize the type.

STEP TWO: Use the eraser to break any closed areas in the letters.
If not, this area might have a "cap" on it when rendered in 3D

STEP THREE: Use the Transform/ Perspective tool to give
your title or phrase some dimension.

New Entry: The Dungeon of Irvilio

A new entry has been submitted for the 2017 One Page Dungeon Contest. This one comes all the way from France! +Kosmic Dungeon , a prolific creator of dungeon maps and cards, has submitted a "dungeon as a trap", where the characters must figure out how to escape before the dark denizens that dwell in the shadowy corridors make short work of them. All the while, the sadistic wizard Irvilio watches on and gains power from the party's suffering.

The Dungeon of Irvilio

"A bad wizard traps adventurers in an exotic dimension. The mysterious Guardian keeps them in a dungeon infested by big bugs, and shadows."

You can see a lot more of Kosmic's work, and even view the original "Le donjon d’Irvilio"
on the site: https://kosmicdungeon.wordpress.com/

Monte Cook Games Sponsors 2017 One Page Dungeon Contest Prizes!

Monte Cook Games has generously offered to sponsor prizes for this year's One Page Dungeon Contest!  Each winner will received a digital edition of the "Cypher System Rulebook"

I have been in contact with the Community Relations Coordinator, Sean K. Reynolds, who you may remember served as a judge in the 2014 One Page Dungeon Contest!

Despite recently launching "A Strange Box", a Kickstarter featuring an exclusive boxed set for "The Strange" RPG, Sean responded to my request right away, and provided the images for use on the dungeoncontest.com website and in social media!

"A Cypher System campaign of Victorian horror? High fantasy? Espionage? Galaxy-spanning space opera? With the Cypher System Rulebook, running any of those is as easy as running or playing The Strange or Numenera . Take the Cypher System to the limits of your imagination with this hefty rulebook that extends the system to fantasy, science-fiction, horror, modern-day, and superhero settings—or any setting you can imagine!"
-Monte Cook Games.com

Thanks again to Sean K. Reynolds, and Monte Cook Games for supporting the One Page Dungeon Contest!

The diversity among sponsors (in terms of different game systems) this year is really encouraging, and I think it reflects the ever increasing diversity among entries, with themes ranging from "Classic Fantasy" to Science Fiction, Distopian Futures, Espionage, Mini-games, and even adventures taking place entirely within mindscapes.

New Entry: Underworld Turf War

Third Entry for the OPDC 2017 is in.

Kenneth Moore is the third creator to send in an entry for the 2017 One Page Dungeon Contest! Kenneth included a link to http://ohthesubhumanity.blogspot.com/, which currently features an interesting (as in check it out) write up of a DCC Patron.

Moore submitted the following blurb describing the entry:

"Underworld Turf War"

The PCs stumble into a lost, underground city and a four-way struggle fought with poisoned daggers in the dark, labyrinthine ruins.

Each entry that is submitted will be listed on Dungeoncontest.com in the order it is received, and links to websites or social media can be included with the submission.

Thanks again to all three creators for getting their submissions in early!

One Page Dungeon Contest 2017: "Upgradable" Prize Fund!

This year, there is a $1000 dollar prize fund that will be distributed among creators of winning entries via PayPal. The amounts per winner may vary, depending on how many winners there are, and the structure of winners ( tiered ((first place/ second place/ etc.)) vs descriptive categories ("best use of undead villagers", "Most vile Antagonist", etc.) )

In either event, there will likely be one grand prize winner ( Best overall One Page Dungeon).

If there are more than 150 eligible entries, this prize fund will be upgraded to $1500. This will result in some combination of more, and slightly larger prizes.

But wait, there is more...
If there are 200 or more eligible entries, this prize fund will be upgraded to $2000, which will be handled in the same manner described above.

In the event that these upgraded prize fund "tiers" are not reached, the additional prize funds will be rolled over for use in the 2018 One Page Dungeon Contest (the 10th anniversary of the contest!).

Eligible entries are entries that follow the contest guidelines as stated in the Submission Guide.

There is still plenty of time to enter the 2017 One Page Dungeon Contest! Check out Dungeoncontest.com for more details on the contest, including sponsors, other entries, past contests, and the official submission guide.

Share this post with your friends! Help us reach 200+ entries!

You can also grab a copy of the Submission Guide for free HERE.

Free digital edition of the 2017 One Page Dungeon Compendium for all who enter!

Concept cover. Final edition may differ.
Everyone who submits an entry to the 2017 OPDC will receive a free PDF edition of the Compendium upon its completion.

This is a small way to say thanks for participating, and making the contest possible in the first place.

This is a $3 value, as the 2017 will retail for this fixed amount via DriveThru/RPGNow upon release.

There is still plenty of time to create and submit a One Page Dungeon (81 days as this blog post).

Check out the submission guide on dungeoncontest.com, or download it for free here.

Evil Hat Productions to sponsor an electronic prize pack for the 2017 One Page Dungeon Contest!

Evil Hat Productions will be sponsoring an electronic prize pack for the 2017 One Page Dungeon contest. This pack is good for $25 worth of digital products from their webstore.

I am excited to have Evil Hat lend their support to the contest this year. It is no secret that I am a fan of Fred Hicks and Evil Hat games, so this is a big win for me personally (and for one of the contest entrants as well).

The adventures created for the One Page Dungeon Contest are intended to be system neutral by design, and have covered everything from actual fantasy dungeons to star fields, post-apocalyptic gas stations, and even mind-scapes.

It is super easy to create a FATE friendly One Page Dungeon using descriptors that easily translate to Aspects, no matter the genre.

If you are unfamiliar with the contest, check out dungeoncontest.com for more information on all of the sponsors, submission guidelines, and past contests.

There are still 81 days until the contest deadline, plenty of time for creators from all systems across the hobby to share their ideas and submit an entry!

Mythoard on board! (2017 One Page Dungeon Contest)

I am very excited to announce that Mythoard.com will be a sponsor of the 2017 One Page Dungeon Contest! +Jarrod Shaw is offering 4 assorted "hoards" as prizes.

+Mythoard  is the first tabletop RPG subscription box service! Each month subscribers receive a box containing five or more premium RPG items. You can easily see how great these have been by looking at past "hoards" on the site

I can remember when Jarrod was contemplating creating Mythoard back on G+. It has been awesome to see it grow from a really great idea to a fantastic business!  It really is a great way to discover new companies and games each month.

Check out Mythoard.com. and drop Jarrod a line to say thanks for supporting the contest!

Wayne's Books to sponsor the One Page Dungeon Contest!

+Wayne's Books will once again be showing support for the One Page Dungeon Contest by offering $100 dollars in store credit as a prize in this year's contest!

Wayne will also be providing 7 youth prizes ( an assortment of Endless Quest/ Fighting Fantasy titles) to help support the younger members of the Contest.

I spent a little time looking through Wayne's webstore trying to see what I would grab with $100 and I have to admit I was overloaded with nostalgia and was transformed into a drooling zombie unable to decide for a while.

Wayne has been an incredibly generous sponsor of the One Page Dungeon Contest over the years, and this year is no exception. Take a moment to say thanks to him ( +Wayne's Books ) for helping to keep the contest going strong.

Check out his store as well. If you haven't already shopped with him in the past, you will be blown away by the wide array of titles he has available. The selection is amazing and you won't go broke supporting your hobby! If you have shopped at waynesbooks.net before, then you already know all this!

Engine Publishing Sponsors 2017 OPDC!

Image used with permission from Engine Publishing.

Engine Publishing is the first official sponsor of the 2017 One Page Dungeon Contest!
+Martin Ralya has generously offered a digital copy of "Masks" for each winner of the contest, a well a a grand prize consisting of a digital copy of all of the Engine Publishing books!

Engine Publishing is no stranger to the One Page Dungeon Contest, and have sponsored the contest in years passed as well!

Engine Publishing.
The contest has a rich history of publishers, content creators, and generous individuals sponsoring prizes leading up to the deadline (May 1st), and I am really excited that Engine Publishing was so quick to answer the call for sponsorship!  I admit that I secretly lament my ineligibility to compete this year, and have already had to break it to my nine year old that her desire to participate in the contest presents a conflict of interest.

Since you are already online, it would be great if you sent a few words of thanks to Martin and +Engine Publishing  for their generous support (past and present) of the contest.

Maybe even head over to the website and check out all of their great titles while you are at it. Once you get a look at what they have to offer you will quickly realize it is a rare win/win situation!
